Can highly detailed designs be created on textiles entirely without printing, using only threads? While photorealistic embroidery has traditionally relied on very large-scale hand or machine embroidery to capture sufficient detail, Thread Replika takes a different approach.
Launched in 2026, this private embroidery project utilizes a novel Jacquard embroidery technology. Instead of massive, wall-sized pieces, the design deliberately focuses on small formats ranging from 5 to 20 cm in width or height. Through the skillful interplay of scale and high stitch density, photographic and graphic sources are translated into threads as faithfully as possible, predominantly in the finest shades of gray, complemented by subtle color accents and up to fully colored motifs.
Selected examples of freestanding patches can be found in the portfolio gallery. If you have any questions about the project or individual motifs, please use the contact form.
